Question OSU Campus Fishing

Hello everyone. I'm a new user to this forum and relatively new to fishing. Does anyone know of some good spots around OSU's campus to fish? I'm assuming the Olentangy would be a good place to start but I'm not sure where at because the water seems real low right beside campus. Thanks for the help in advance.

You'll need a bicycle, lock, and fishing gear to do this. Essentially, the Olentangy Trail is your friend and your bike is your transport. The smallmouth typically like the areas that are rocky. The rocky areas are typically near bridges and damns.

What type of fish are you trying to catch?

I started to fish the Olentangy River about two years ago and it's been a pleasant surprise. There is a lot of everything within the Olentangy River and it's not over fished like Antrim Lake.

Are you attending Ohio State? I just graduated about a year ago.

I'm not really looking to catch any type of fish in particular. I'm mainly just looking to have fun and become a better fisher. Any tips are welcome.

I'm in going into my fourth year at OSU.

Chicken liver for catfish
Worms for bluegill and rock bass
Small spinners for rock bass, crappie, and smallmouth
Larger baits for smallmouth (Spinnerbait, Rebel Craw, Manns Minus One)

Just ride up and down the Olentangy Trail and experiment!

Eek! You better pick a major soon or you'll be there forever! I graduated with an economics and financial management degree. The economy sucks and the job selection is horrible!

Hey guys,

I am currently an officer of the OSU Bass Fishing Club. I just wanted to give you a heads up that you may not receive a response right away through email. Almost all of the officers are graduating, and we just finished new elections this past week. As a consequence, we are working on transferring everything to the new officers; including the email address, website, etc. Our tournament roster is currently filled for the summer, but the new officers will need to fill more spots in the fall.
