where are the smallies?
spent 12 hours fishing bula harbor and conneaut harbor on sunday. we only got about 6 smallies. tons of rock bass. we pretty much thru the tackle box at them, but no luck. any tips?

heres a tip the lake is full of big smallies
can't really say just yet we are going up this saturday for some .. it might be your baits.. tubes are played out ...

Fished all around the islands for smallies on Memorial day, with out at bite, so gave up and proceeded to wack the wallys instead

Two weekends ago they where on fire.N.E erie.
Past weekend one day was so so and other was good.
All buck bass last weekend which leads me to belive the females are on beds.Fished N.E. erie not the islands.Water cooler then the islands.

Smallmouth fishing in erie is on fire early april through mid may. Em feesh are post spawn now. You missed it. Give them a couple of weeks to recover.
I see it every year.

Maybe we should have used leaches
live bait leaches? just hav'nt wacked them this year like last year. Seemed to have moved up in stages this year and not all at once.

Just got back from New York on Erie and in one day We put 50 smallies in the boat. It was awesome!

that's how last year was at bula, this year was more hit or miss. caught some nice fish this year but not the numbers like last year.

Robot....how u do? I was thinking of heading up sunday, was curious if they still shallow. I know it's kind of late, but, one can hope.
