Kgone, I have never used my Talora's for divers, but I've been on 1 boat that did, and they worked fine for eyes (even over east). I have mono on mine for in-line boards only.

I'm a big fan of the CAL 1100 7 footers in medium action. The shorter rods make netting a lot easier, and the Ugly Stiks are indestructable. I keep eight of them on the boat with SG27s with mono on them, and have six more reels spooled with Fireline on them. if it ends up being a Dipsy bite, I remove the reels with mono from the rods, and put the reels with braid on them. They work extremely well for both applications.

Finally updated then all to the cal 1100 ugly sticks. I love them. I have 2 10'8" Diawa rods I bought from Toxic a few years ago for dipseys but never have run them yet.

Those are great Dipsy rods, no doubt. When I started running trips, I found the shorter rods made netting a lot easier for customers that didn't fish as often as some of us do.

Whatever you decide, keep them in sets of 2 or 3 or 6. If you typically run 3 rods per side, get at least 3 of the same, so you can put them all on the same side of the boat. It takes a lot of time to get used to reading inline boards, especially when you may have a small fish on. I use a combination of very light drag and reading the rods. If you have rods of the same model, they should behave similarly. Even so, I drag around an 'eye for several minutes now and again.

I use Diawia Wilderness dr802mlr. They are fiberglass 2pc rods with soft tip and good backbone. They approx $20 each. Spend the money on your reels, i prefer the Diawia sg27lg, they have been $90 for years. If you are trolling inline boards use Berkley 10lbxt and change your pinch pads out for the OR-14 clips. Push the spring to front setting and they will hold just fine. These rods work pretty good with small dipseys, just change line over to braid before you do. This is what my set up looks like, hope it helps.
