Default No Spring???

It looks like we're not gonna have a Spring and head straight into Summer. Soil temps are already way above normal.

Some gardeners have tilled their garden.

Ya better have a few rain barrels nearby b/c it looks like a dry growing season ahead.

Some gardeners are already planting lettuce!

I started all my flower, tomato & peppers plants 2 weeks earlier than normal and now I'm wondering if I didnt start them early enough??????

I have 14 flats of flowers and veggies. Normally I'd keep them in the basement until early May, but moved all them outside last weekend, 3/17.

May put the Canna's, Calla Lilly's and Caladiums outside if these warm temps keep up.

It’s a safe bet these temps won’t last. Spring will be here, I’m just hoping winter doesn't come back. I did plant lettuce, but that’s it as far as outside.

Planted a short row of Romaine Lettuce today in the garden., Weds March 21, 2012. Also planted some Canna Bulbs outdoors too.

Peas are starting to sprout.

Looks like we'll be cutting grass in the few days.

Worked around the yard the last 2 days in shorts and no shirt....in MARCH.. Go Figure!

Still hesitant of tilling the garden so early eventhough I've seen others do so already.

I went ahead and tilled a very small piece. Still too wet, but it was good enough to stick some onions and carrots in. Yard needs mowed.

I planted lettuce Saturday and it was up by Wednesday. Tomatoes that I started in pots are up too.

I have head and leaf lettuce, first cabbage, spring mix, onions, brocoulli, cauliflower, peas, all in and doing well...strawberries are up and have a few flowers and asparagus has been cut 3 times already!

Every time I think we will "Pay" for this weather, it seems to continue.....I hope summer is not 140 degrees or 40 degrees!

I'll take what we are having now over that crap we had last year. We had no spring last year, we had rain.

Default planting

I have around 350 onions planted 300 feet of potatoes and peas and cabbage. All cold things. Will be planting lettuces and some greens soon. But the rest Id hold off till 2nd week of may to first week of June. Remember this is Ohio. We could still see freezing and 3 foot of snow!

Default Cistren

I woke up to find my left front tire down in a large hole one morning. Here there was a cistren in my drive. I had to haul a load of gravel in to fill.
