Default Baitcasting reel

I have 150 in bass pro gift cards coming to me for filling out surveys. Plus a 10 off coupon. I'm going to purchase the Veritas casting rod, and im looking for a baitcasting reel to put on it. The rod is 100. So I'm looking at roughly 60 to spend plus I don't mind coming out my pocket 20 to 30 bucks. And oh yea I forgot to mention I'm baitcasterly challenged. What reel would you recommend for a beginner?

BPS Pro Qualifier for the money you want to spend.

The real question is where do you fill out these surveys in exchange for gift cards? I see a new full time job in my future

The BPS is a nice little reel, but I'm partial to Abu Garcia.

Either the BPS pro qualifier, or a the Lews speed spool. Probably the best two reels for the money.

I just purchased an Abu Garcia Revo and a Bass Pro Bonic Blade. The reel and rod combo is absolutely excellent. I can throw cranks a mile and the medium heavy rod is perfect for fighting large bass. I was getting a little overpowered with just a medium rod but the medium heavy is perfect!

Go with BPS or Pflueger! Can't go wrong with either.

If I'm not mistaken they may come from the same plant. But, that info is highly guarded to verify.

Eh, I guess everyone has a preference. I bought a revo premier this spring and haven't been all that impressed. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice reel, but for the money and the hype, it doesn't exactly meet my expectations.....

I'll throw in another vote for Abu Garcia reels. It's all I use except for a large Quantum spinning reel.

The black max and silver max are good for the money.

Abu Garcia for life... I highly recommend the Revo SX as a beginner reel.. a bit more money, but if maintained correctly, will be a great reel for years to come.. In fall of 2012 the entire Revo line is being re-launched lighter and stronger than ever as seen at I-CAST. I have a couple Revo SX's, several Premier's and a MGX. I love them all.. but it seems that when you upgrade to a more expensive reel you are paying for lighter materials and not additional casting distance.

heck yeah The online survey website I'm apart of hands out gamestop giftcards which are about the only things worth getting from them aside from a few different magazine subscriptions. I'd love to get basspro or gander mountain giftcards.

I learned on an Abu 5001 off Ebay for $40. Its primitive compared to my Curado but very functional and versatile. I've used it bassin, muskie and pike, bottom fishing carp and cats and even bottom bounced in rod holder and trolled Erie with it for walleye. Spooled with 15-20lb mono u can use it for anything but panfish.
