Massillon is full of black squirrels but I still run into people now and again who have never seen one. The subject came up once when I was visiting relatives down south and they thought I was pulling their leg.

That's a first. Why am I picturing a skunk on your mantle?

Grew up hunting, had never seen a black squirrel until I worked in the Wooster area, had to do a double take, thought it was a rare sighting until I saw they were everywhere. Now I've seen a few in the Mansfield area as well as Mt. Vernon.

I saw a white one in the park in Oberlin just south of SR 511 on SR 58 two weeks ago. I couldn't tell whether it was a true albino as it was too far away and I was sitting at a traffic light.

The majority of the squirrels here in Massillon are black. Kent is (or at least used to be) the same way. Haven't been up that way in years. I've never seen a white one in Ohio that I can remember.

Here is a drawing that my late Grandfather did back in the 80's of a white squirrel in Tennessee.

The Ohio State University campus in Columbus used to have them all over the place. I went to a lot of football games and would see 3 to 4 every game. They kind of stick out like a sore thumb..... Eye catchers.

Just make sure you don't take Markfish on a white squirrel hunt, cuz he'll bring bullets that bounce off of them or something....
