Thanks for the info. I think I will go anyway. I'll post the lake conditions when I get back. Can usually put in at Wellman and just pull the boat up on the shoreline.

Crappie were biting in 10 to 13 FOW. Only caught two keeper size crappie which were released. Used capps and coleman rig with crappie miinows. Water temperature was 43F in the bays and 41F in the main lake. With the warm weather this upcoming week, the crappie bite should get better. As of Saturday, the docks are NOT in at Caesar Creek. Good luck.
ODNR 'usually" puts in the docks in late April. We all complain but they wait until they're pretty confident that the heavy Spring rains are over for the season. I think that reasoning applies to most of the lakes that don't have "flow-over" dams. Just what I've noticed over the past six years.

Big Red I think you are right but look at what happened last year in May. I think it also depends on when they start letting the lake come back up. Whatever the case, it's a pain when the docks are out!
I did get on the water Sunday. The lake level is down , probably 3 or 4 ft. No docks in yet. Water temp as described previously, i.e. about 41 main lake and 43 in parts of some of the bays. Did not have time to fish ( did update on Humminbird sideimaging that screwed up, and spent all my time working on it). Did see quite a few fisherman, no one I talked to were catching crappie, but some bass were being caught on rock walls with plastics and crankbaits. Next weekend will likely be much better after temp goes up a few degrees.

The fish are biting at CC. South of 73, the water temp is 43F. North of 73, the water temp is 51F in the bays. I had a max temperature of 58F in 3 FOW. Carp are splashing around in the shallows. Caught 3 huge white bass casting a live forage spoon (perch image). The WB ran and put up a nice scrap. WOW! That was fun. Caught a slab crappie on caps and coleman rig using crappie minnows. Also caught 2 saugeye using a blakemore natural series jig with a Berkley swim bait (shad 3"). Doug Stange would be proud! Get out while the conditions are good. Last year was a bust in spring time due to the high water and closed ramps. Sorry to report, NO docks yet. Probably looking at the early April for the docks. It was a perfect evening on the lake. Good fishing.
