210th Aerial Target Det Kettering 8- 86 to `91. Bravo Co. 237th Forward Support Brigade Sprinfield `91 to 3- `00. Offered to come back in after 9/ 11 but was told we were already "winning" on 9/ 12. Was told if we started LOSING REALLY BAD they would call...So how is sunny Kuwait?
Does the name Sgt Voiheese (?) ring a bell? Former Marine took over the motor pool with 18 mechs and in 18 months there were 7 left? Didn`t let even 1 get promoted, said he needed to make E- 7 1st before anyone else got promoted? SSgt Reid, good man. Lt Col Smith; would have followed him anywhere he went...
Yep, i worked for Vorhees for a bit. Weird dude...lol. LTC Smith was a hell of a commander. Coined me at AT for telling him things were all screwed up, offering a fix, and then demonstrating.
Good hearin' from you too man. Small world! But then, the Army is...whether people believe it or not!
Lt Col Smith gave me a coin also for so expertly camaflaudging my foxhole that the "butterbar" accompanying him actually fell into it, almost breaking his neck. We both helped him out and he tried hard to STARE me down; he was MAD ! His name was Custer, next day he disregarded SSgt Reid`s "suggestion" and had our partol dismount and all but walk hand in hand skipping thru the woods into a classic "L" shaped ambush. The OPFOR guy in charge walks up and did his best native American asking "You have `em relative who did same same?" Great 1st summer camp for the "butterbar, God bless him.
Everytime we went. Also fished the engineer`s bridging exercise pond just South of the obstical course there. Got several NICE 16"- 18" LM there; and released them. Kept several doz BIG bluegills from there too; filleted them and had a fish fry a couple of times back at the barracks. Alot of good memories. Been helping do a "project" at CJ Brown over the last 3 yrs; we (the "Friends of CJ Brown Reservoir") have placed 875+ fish attractors out of 700 approved in 27 areas of the lake hoping the perch and panfish population will increase. Seems to be working. Unfortuneately several persons are afraid this will cause the lake to get completely fished down. Did this with NO public funds or help. Several sets have had very good "results" this spring.
