Went to CJ Brown on Monday (first pic) and today (Second pic) for groceries.
The crappie are all along the shoreline, especially in the rocks and one gravel bar I tried. Didn't get the slabs I wanted but very good eating anyway. Some went 13" but most were 9-11.
White bass are hitting (the wife does not like them so they are off the menu), smallies and large are hitting in the marina and rocky shorline. One large went 4lbs.
Today the wind came up fast and furious. I was anchored and a boat wake plus the wind forced me to employ my quick release on my anchor trolley. It worked fast and efficient and I believe I could have capsized if it had not. I have a plastic bottle as a float so I was able to retrieve the anchor and line with no problem.
All in all I had two great days. Caught at least 40-50 fish each day and kept all I wanted or needed.
Sometime this month the white bass are supposed to travel up Buck Creek to spawn and I hear you can catch a fish on practically every cast. It sounds wild. If anyone is interested I can try to pinpoint a time frame when the run starts. I plan on making the long haul in my yak from the marina to the mouth of buck creek which is at the north end of the lake.
