Default Abu Garcia

I'm not much of a product pimp, but I thought these new rods were worth mentioning, specifically for kayakers.
My son and I snapped a couple of rods last year, and I just broke a tip a couple weeks ago on my favorite baitcasting rod. So I was in need of a couple new rods.
I looked around ALOT. I was pretty sure I was going to have a buddy make me a couple of custom rods. Then I checked out the new Abu Garcis rods, partiicularly the Veritas series. http://www.abugarcia.com/products/rods/veritas
They are great rods no doubt, strong and lightwieght, great guides, etc...but the unique thing is this nano coating technology. Essentially the rod is covered with this super film coating technology that prevents chips and cracks. I bang my rods around a bunch while kayaking, I try not to, but you know...so this is a nice gig for guys like me.
For sure if your rod is "chip and ding free" snapping is much, much less likely.

I bought two baitcasting rods, one for me and one for my son. So far, they are outstanding in the hand and on the water. If they hold up the way they feel like they will, I'm buying several more.

I did check them out earlier in the year but wrote them off because they didn't have the right feel for me. Never paid much attention and didn't notice the nano tech they put in them. If in fact it is what they say it is they may be on to something. I figured the yak would put a wooping on my rods so I did purchase a couple just for that. I went with the bionic blade from bps just because they have that feel I was looking for and priced fairly well. Rods have going up to rediculas prices over the last five years and I refuse to pay for what some of them are going for. I do like quality but have to draw the line somewhere. For a 100 bucks you may be on to something. Let us know how they pan out.
