Finally got some nicer weather and had to fish a local creek before the weekend ended. I got the jon boat out and spent about 3 hours out on the water. The fish surprised me a bit yesterday, they wouldn't hit a tube, a jig, or any other small plastic bait. I thought for awhile that I was going to catch another skunk this year, but decided to tie on the BETTER version of the "ohio special" onto my ultralight. I made a only a few casts downstream and slowly reeled it in before I felt some weight on the end of my line. I ended up catching a nice 12 inch smallie for my first bass of the year. It wasn't long before I caught a second smallie that was only about 10" long. I decided to try one more spot before I called it a day. Once again I tossed my lure downstream and this time I felt a hefty pull on the end of my line. My ultralight was doing its best and then I finally saw a large smallie on my line. It did one big jump about 1.5' out of the water and I thought I was going to lose it, but finally pulled in a 17" bronzeback. It was a nice way to end the day and I finally headed home without the stink!!

Can't tell for sure from the picture, but if its the bait I think it is, I agree with your assessment of a BETTER "Ohio Special".
That bait sure looks like the bomber a you were talking about in the thread on Ohio special. Is the bait in the picture the best color? I want to buy a few...would u say the larger size is best?
Thanks!

ML1187 - I prefer to use the smaller size in colder weather and in smaller streams. In a river or larger body of water I will sometimes use the larger size bomber or other similar crankbaits. That color has been the most productive for me me in all of the river systems, but I will also sometimes throw a chartreuse or shad color.
But if I could only have one, it would be the smaller bomber which is in the picture.
