I personally prefer breatheables. You can stay as warm and way less clammy, they are waaaay easier to get in and out of, and useable year round. As far as boots, felt sole is a must.
I also prefer boot foot and to buy @ a size bigger. Tight boots=dead feet in a cold steelhead stream!
